It wasn't until we adopted our current kitties, Tony and Eddie, from a local humane society that I realized how important animal rescue was. Our cats were rescued from a hoarding situation in a home filled with dozens of other cats and dogs. The living conditions were unsanitary and beyond unsafe. Tony and Eddie still struggle with issues from their past as they both have respiratory difficulties and emotional scars. It has been a long road with these two but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I am so grateful to have been able to give them a whole new life in a welcoming and loving home. It is because of their story that I have become so passionate about animal rescue and supporting the shelters that take these animals in.
Throughout the years I have personally volunteered with humane societies, animal shelters and rescues across the state of Wisconsin. I have socialized kittens and worked with dogs to overcome their fear of humans, I have made blankets and toys for the shelter animals during the winter and I even started a social media series in order to help rescue kitties find their forever homes. I knew I wanted to do more for these shelters and these animals, which is why I started Jillian's Joy.
